What I understood-
1. We make art because we want to- it doesn't have any purpose.
2. Why do we do what we do- it is to fulfill a certain purpose or a want/desire.
3. Machines and AI have made the things we want to do easier for us.
Now we replace ourselves with machines.
1.Machines do what they do because they have a set algorithm. That algorithm defines their purpose which they need to complete.
2. So, if AI is making art- it is because of its prompt(from humans) that sets its algorithm and defines its purpose.
3. So, currently machines can't do what they want to do because they are incapable of it. Everything done by machines is defined by purpose- that is what separates them from humans-who are capable of wanting things and independent thinking .
4. But in the future, if machines become able to produce art , not as the result of an algorithm to follow but because of their own wants and independent thinking, we won't be able to differentiate them from humans. This would be a singularity where we cannot separate humans and computers as separate entities.
